At 7,500 ft. elevation, the Bar Lazy J Guest Ranch is considered the oldest continuously operating guest ranch in Colorado. With a guest capacity of 42, they offer guests a friendly and informal atmosphere with a true "Western Experience". Whether you choose one of the12 comfortable log cabins of which most are located on the bank of the Colorado River, or their extremely roomy Ranch House. the all-inclusive Colorado dude ranch vacation will include all your meals for the entire week, including the bottomless cookie box plus many activities such as horseback riding, "Gold Medal" fly-fishing, a kid's programme, hayrides, campfires, mountain biking, Jeep rides, evening entertainment. The Ranch maintains a herd of over 100 horses which accommodates all levels of riding abilities for your whole group or family. They also offer a number of "special" rides throughout the week including, but not limited to: All day rides, high country rides, a Breakfast Ride and a Spa Ride. With the Colorado River right in your backyard, you will receive expert instruction in their "catch and release" portion of the river. While the river is "catch and release," their own stocked trout pond has a fish with your name on it. Their chef will even cook it for you that evening. The Ranch Fun Kid's Program is flexible and designed to meet the needs of children in various age groups.
They are kept safe, busy and entertained on their dude ranch vacation. And there is the opportunity to play with cows on horseback while you push steers around various obstacles and participate in the Bar Lazy J way of team penning. Show off your horsemanship skills while building confidence in a very controlled environment. You'll show your horse that you are in control by rounding barrels, weaving poles, and many other obstacles. Get a real feel for Colorado during one of their off-road Jeep rides. The guides will take you through the forest where many people can't get to on foot. Or you might trade in your saddle for a simple and beautiful Colorado hike. Experience the wildflowers and wildlife during this educational tour. A comfortable van trip to the town of Grand Lake will offer plenty of sightseeing opportunities as well as ample time for some shopping.
Climb aboard one of their mountain bikes for a quiet ride through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Soak up the Colorado sun and amazing blue sky while rejuvenating and splashing around in the large pool. After a day of riding, the hot tub is the perfect place to relax. The barn is always open for shuffleboard, ping-pong, air hockey, foosball and games. Every evening there are planned activities including hayrides, campfire sing-a-longs, staff shows and western dancing. Weekly stays are from Sunday to Sunday.
The ranch will meet you in Granby and transport you back to the ranch at no additional cost. To get to Granby you may take the train from Denver or Home James Transportation Service, a Colorado-based a van service, will bring you and your family from Denver Airport (DIA) to Granby.
