The desert of Arizona has become one of the premiere vacation destinations in the world. Nestled up in the foothills of the Rincon and the Catalina Mountains between the Coronado National Forest and the Saguaro National Park, Tanque Verde Ranch provides an oasis of relaxation in a desert mountain setting redolent with opportunities for physical challenge as well. Through hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking with experienced trail guides, wranglers, and bikers, interacting with an often times lush and inviting desert becomes a safe, enjoyable, and thrilling experience for everyone. Horseback Riding

The Tanque Verde Ranch has the largest stable of riding horses in Arizona, and we can certainly match your riding ability to the right mount. Every day of the year a full-time Wrangling Staff is ready to treat you to the best in Western riding.

Hiking in the Sonoran Desert

Guided hiking program offers miles of breathtakingly beautiful trails. Hikes range in level of difficulty to allow everyone to participate!  Hiking options include level desert hikes as well as excursions into the Coronado Mountains with elevation gains of up to several thousand feet.

Pack your hiking boots to experience the beauty of the lush Sonoran desert on foot! See the unique cacti such as the giant saguaro (suh-WARE-oh), the rugged canyons and mountains of the Rincon and Catalina ranges, the desert wildlife and hidden waterfalls up close. Tanque Verde Ranch offers world class guided hiking right from our doorstep into the adjacent Saguaro National Park and the Coronado National Forest..

Mountain Biking 

Come explore the Southwest's ambiance on a full suspension mountain bike.  The Ranch offers over 600 acres of Sonoran desert riddled with single-track.  Rides vary from beginning trail riding to advanced technical riding.  Weekly off-site rides offer unique experiences with a variety of elevation and landscapes.  You will be accompanied by an experienced guide who will fit you to a finely tuned bicycle.  Helmets and gloves are also provided.

Tennis on the Omni Court 

The ranch has 5 tennis courts, including three artificial turf courts, one of which is lighted for night play.  A staff tennis pro(October thru April) is there to help you with your game! Group lessons in the morning provide a foundation for the afternoon mixers.

Swimming Indoor/Outdoor

The facilities include both indoor and outdoor heated pools and whirlpools, a separate children's wading pool, an exercise room, and men's and ladies' saunas.  Any of these provide the perfect way to relax after a long day in the saddle!

The Nature Center

Our Nature center, open most days, allows you the close up view of some of the less approachable desert fauna such as spiders, snakes, and a rather large, ghoulish looking beetle.  The Sonoran desert is one of the world's most vibrant deserts.  Because of the severity of climate, hot in the summer/cold in the winter, drought ridden much of the year, both plant and animal life have evolved unique survival adaptations that are fascinating to study and appreciate.

Desert Art

Weekly classes offer instruction in landscape painting with watercolors, charcoal, pencil and other traditional desert media including mixed media and pottery.  Enjoy the informality of our landscape and the excitement of seeing your creation materialize before your eyes.

Body Treatments

Gather your inner spirits together with an exhilerating body treatment, which includes a body scrub, body wrap, hydrating massage and a scalp massage.  These treatments hydrate and replenish the skin.  Add a full body massage to any treatment for an additional fee.

Massages

Rejuvenate yourself from a day in the saddle with one of our soothing massages.  Relax and soothe tired muscles, relieve tension, and increase blood circulation allowing you to experience the deepest state of relaxation.

REJUVENATION ROUND-UP Gather your inner spirits together with a body treatment, which includes a body scrub, body wrap, hydrating massage and a scalp massage. If you are a little saddle sore, Saddle Up for another 30 minutes to include a full body massage.

DESERT CURE Creosote Scrub, Aloe/Prickly Pear Wrap, Hydrating Massage. Begin with a body exfoliation using the powerful antioxidant creosote scrub and aromatherapy of your choice from the four essential oil combinations. Next enjoy a body wrap in aloe and prickly pear to hydrate and replenish with Omega 3 fatty acids to heal and protect the skin. Enrich the massage experience with the Sonoran Balm specially prepared with your individual scent. SONORAN MUD WRAP Creosote Scrub, Sonoran and Sea Mud Wrap, Hydrating Massage. After a full body exfoliation to stimulate circulation and to improve the appearance of the skin with the cool desert rain fragrance of the Creosote Scrub, wrap up in mud to draw out impurities and soothe tired muscles. RAWHIDE RENEWAL Creosote Scrub, Jojoba Shea Butter Wrap, Hydrating Massage. After a day on the dusty trail in the Sonoran Desert sun, this body treatment is a must! A collection of some of the world's best rich creams and oils are applied to the body after cleansing with a invigorating Creosote Scrub exfoliation. This service is designed to penetrate moisture and nourishing ingredients deep into the skin. AROMATHERAPY Leave the Eau d' Corral behind and immerse yourself in fragrant luxury! A special treatment to release muscle tension, reduce mental fatigue, increase blood circulation and facilitate the elimination of toxins (with your choice of aromatic balms and unique massage techniques.) This service also includes a special face treatment with massage and deep cleansing masque.  90 minutes: $175   

HOOF CARE

DESERT CURE PEDICURE Developed with ingredients indigenous and most abundant to the Sonoran Desert.   Begin with a foot scrub using the herbal Creosote Scrub and aromatherapy of your choice. Mask the feet in aloe and prickly pear to hydrate and replenish, using Omega 3 fatty acids to heal and protect the skin. The Sonoran Balm of your choice enriches the massage experience and stimulates the senses.   60 minutes: $75

FRUIT OF THE DESERT Choose from the uplifting scent of fresh squeezed oranges or lemons blended with the exotic fragrance of Jasmine for this refreshing pedicure. Adding to the aromatic experience, the Creosote Scrub brings the smell of a fresh desert rain to buff and polish the feet. Complete the experience with a massage using the custom blended balm that softens and seals in moisture. 60 minutes: $75

LEATHER N' SPUR PEDICURE Intensive, rich and moisturizing. This pedicure is designed to restore rough, dry skin using the Creosote Scrub. After this exfoliating treatment, a Jojoba and Shea Butter mask along with La Sonora Spa Hoof Whip completes the rehydration process by penetrating deep into the skin.  60 minutes: $85
